JOB OPENING FOR 3 CONSTRUCTION TRADES HELPERS AND LABOURERS AND 1 CARPENTER APPRENTICE

PHH Construction Ltd. located in Abbotsford, B.C. urgently requires 3 Permanent & Full Time Construction Trades Helper and 1 Carpenter Apprentice. Our company deals with residential projects, from multiunit developments, and single-family custom homes, to restoration and renovation services. We do structural upgrades, renovations, framing, formwork, and mill work along with Custom houses and general contracting.

CONSTRUCTION TRADES HELPERS AND LABOURERS

Job Duties:
Assist trades men in framing, constructing, renovating residential homes and other wood structures Deliver or hold materials or tools to help tradesman and, provide assistance in other activities. Load, unload and transport construction materials. Select tools, equipment, and materials from storage and transport items to work site Deliver lumber sheets, tools, nails, glue and other material on work site Help cut timbers, lumber and/or paneling to specified dimensions, and drill holes in timbers or lumber. Assist in shaping, measuring, and assembling wood material, joint moldings and related activities Operate various hand and power tools Clean and prepare surfaces. Assist team in completing the rough and finish stages of the framing portions Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed by tradesman.

Eligibility Requirements:

Language: No Formal Language Requirement and No formal education requirements.

Some work experience as a construction labourer would be an asset, On the job training can also be provided if you don’t have any work experience.

Ability to walk stands, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks. Working setting: The candidate should be available to work full-time. Requires lifting, pulling and carrying of equipment and other objects Candidate should be willing to work outdoors, indoors and all-weather conditions. Basic knowledge of English is required.

Compensation: $28.85/hour for 30-40 hours/week along with 4% vacation pay
Location: Various – Lower Mainland

CARPENTER APPRENTICE (1)

As a Carpenter Apprentice, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements, Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools,  Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials, Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems, Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware, Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments, Supervise apprentices and other construction workers, May prepare cost estimates for clients

Eligibility Requirements:

Language: English

o Completion of secondary school

o 6 months experience in the trade

Location: Various Locations in Lower Mainland BC

Compensation: $30.00/hour for 30-40 hours/week along with 4% vacation pay

Benefits As per mutual agreement and BC Employment standards act 4% vacation pay of the gross salary will be paid each pay period with 10 days of unpaid vacation time or option to chose 10 days of paid vacation with no vacation pay with gross salary.
