About Youth Careers Canada

Building Career Pathways for Canadian Youth

Every young Canadian deserves a fair shot at meaningful work. Background, experience level, and starting point should never stand in the way.

Our Mission

Remove barriers. Unlock potential.

To remove the barriers between young Canadians and their first meaningful career opportunity. Talent is not measured in years on a resume. It shows up in potential, drive, and willingness to grow.

Employment is more than a transaction. For young Canadians, a first real opportunity builds confidence, independence, and long-term career momentum. For employers, it is an investment in talent that grows with the organization.

Why We Exist

That is where we come in.

Youth unemployment in Canada sits at 14.1%, more than double the adult rate. Nearly one million young Canadians are not in education, employment, or training. In Ontario, close to 1 in 4 teenagers is unemployed. Black youth face a 22.3% unemployment rate. Indigenous youth face 18.2%.

Too many young Canadians face a catch-22: employers want experience, but no one will give them the chance to get it. Generic job boards bury entry-level roles under mountains of senior positions. YCC changes that.

For Young Job Seekers

A platform built for your experience level, not against it.

For Employers

Access motivated candidates who bring fresh perspectives and energy.

For Canada

Building the next generation of Canadian talent, one career at a time.

These are not abstract numbers. They represent young Canadians locked out of the workforce. YCC exists to build a more intentional on-ramp into employment for all of them.

Who We Serve

Built for the youth who need it most.

Youth Careers Canada connects young Canadians with employers across every industry and region. We pay particular attention to the communities that face the steepest barriers to landing their first opportunity.

Youth Facing Barriers

Those without networks, references, or prior work experience who need a fair starting point.

Newcomer & Immigrant Youth

Navigating Canadian workplace culture, credential recognition, and first Canadian work experience.

Indigenous Youth

Facing systemic barriers to employment, with a national unemployment rate of 18.2%.

Black & Racialized Youth

Disproportionately affected by unemployment. Black youth aged 15-24 face a rate of 22.3%.

Youth with Disabilities

Who need accessible, inclusive hiring processes and workplaces that accommodate their needs.

2SLGBTQI+ Youth

Who deserve to find workplaces free from discrimination and supportive of who they are.

Rural & Remote Youth

With limited local job markets who need access to remote-friendly and relocation-supported roles.

For Candidates

Find roles that match where you are.

Whether you are searching for your first role, completing a co-op, or exploring a new direction, Youth Careers Canada is built for where you are today. Not where someone expects you to be in five years.

Everything on this platform is designed to help you move forward:

  • Entry-level filters that surface relevant roles
  • Co-op and internship focus
  • Profile builder that highlights potential
  • Application tracking in one place

Your potential matters. This is a place where your career can take shape.

For Employers

Hire young talent who's ready to grow.

Hiring early-career talent is smart business. Young Canadians bring energy, adaptability, fresh perspective, and a genuine desire to prove themselves.

By posting on Youth Careers Canada, companies get access to:

  • Targeted early-career candidate pool
  • Listed on Google for Jobs
  • Apply on YCC, by email or on your careers page
  • One applicant pipeline with notes and messaging

We encourage employers to hire for capability, commitment, and growth potential.

Post a Role

Wellbeing

The first job should build you up.

More than 80% of young Canadians report anxiety about their employment prospects. Research shows that when work is stable, meaningful, and aligned with life goals, it becomes a foundation for wellbeing. When work is precarious, exploitative, or unsafe, it erodes it.

As a job board, our role is clear: surface quality positions from real employers with clear descriptions. No gig spam. No ghost jobs. No exploitative listings. Every posting on YCC must describe a real position, with clear expectations and fair compensation.

“A first job should not break you. It should be the start of something you can build on.”

What We Stand For

Five values that drive everything.

Access

Remove experience barriers and open doors for young talent.

Growth

Invest in early careers and watch talent develop over time.

Transparency

Clear expectations on both sides of the hiring relationship.

Equity

A fair chance for every young person, regardless of background.

Impact

Shape Canada's future workforce by investing in it today.

Our Commitment

Held to a higher standard.

We want Youth Careers Canada to be the early-career job board young people actually trust. That means setting standards that look out for candidates and employers alike.

Platform standards we enforce:

  • Designed with WCAG AA accessibility in mind
  • Youth data protection and privacy by design
  • Transparent employer standards and verification
  • Automated fraud checks that help catch fake postings and scams
  • No ghost jobs. Every posting must represent a real, actively-filled position
  • No pay-to-work schemes. We reject any posting that charges candidates fees

“When young people get a fair chance at employment, the entire country moves forward.”

Opportunity Deserves a Better Starting Point.

Young Canadians get a fair shot at their first career. Employers get access to motivated early-career talent. And Canada gets a stronger, more representative workforce.

Youth Careers Canada is where early careers take shape.
